Everything that has to do with your landing gear, controlled by one device only. The SmartBox allows full control over your retracts and gear doors. If you want it all, this is your choice.
Compatible with ER-30, ER-40, ER-50 retracts (eVo, Classic & NG); brakes and servo motors / linear actuators for gear doors.
ER-50 NG retracts are rated for 3S LiPo voltage. Therefore, the battery that you have to connect to the retract unit controller should be a 3S battery.
With a 2S battery, the ER-50 NG retracts will work, but the speed and torque of the retraction will be reduced. Depending on the length and weight of the strut and the wheel, and other factors, the performance of the retract with a 2S battery could be enough to operate properly.
All retracts purchased from January 2013. The serial number must start with 13, 14, 15, 16, etc (the first two digits indicate the manufacturing year)
This is possible only in the “reversible version” of our retracts, released from January 2015 onwards. The indicative “reversible” is engraved next to the serial number.
Electron suggests using a single small battery for retracts and brakes, and don't share the receiver or engine battery.
500-900 mAh will be enough for at least 25 flights, so with a very small battery, you will have enough power for a full flying day.
Voltage increase: The last software for ER-30 and ER-40 allows for an increase in the voltage up to 13V (not for ER-50). With 3S LiPo, it is possible to increase the brake torque a little. Old control units can be updated with the new software: (contact us). Is possible to test the controller with a 3S LiPo to know if this controller accepts 13V. If not, the retracts simply will not run; nothing should burn. The ER-50 is limited to 10V for security, so only mechanical adjustments are possible.
